Getting the Bugs out of Your Head

Everyone gets stale. Artists, writers are well known for getting creative block. Nurses, florists, sanitation workers and accountants all lose their zip. Sometimes, a hobby or a favorite outing is not enough to jog you out of your rut. Don’t start donning a skydiving outfit. It’s a lot easier to help someone. That’s right, help someone other than yourself. Hedonistic rituals like massages and pedicures are great, but they still don’t cure the doldrums like doing good for others. Helping takes yourself out of yourself and that’s precisely the place you want to go when you’re stale.

You don’t have to rid the world of hunger. One old geezer I knew, used to go around to abandoned lots with packets of flower seeds and surreptitiously toss seed everywhere. He sure got a kick out of it. The neighbors got a kick out of it too.  Take a look at your local bus stop.  Is it weedy or littered? How does the bench look? Sticky and creepy? Would you let your Grandmother sit there? Grab a trash bag and a couple of wet wipes and do everybody a favor. There are plenty of your neighbors who need help, but be sensitive. Not everyone wants your selfless self.

When all else fails, wash the kitchen floor. Even if you’ve just cleaned it, it’s probably dirty again. I don’t know why this is, it just is. Don’t just clean it though, scrub it. Sends the blood to the brain and the, at least you’ll be thinking clearly. You should be ready to create now.

You mean like Bugs Bunny, Bugs Malone, etc.? All I want is for the voices in my head to be a little quieter. That is, when they’re not snoring. Heh heh.
