From Moss, Norway, I am pleased to present Amethyst Shards by David Sandum. Mr. Sandum is a self taught artist originally from Sweden. He attended the University of Utah and now resides in Moss, Norway. His website is www.davidsandum.com.
This painting is a gouche on watercolor paper. Gouche is an unforgiving medium. It requires that the artist has a precise idea of how the painting is supposed to look before he begins. It requires decisiveness, boldness and skill. This painting portrays Robyn Sullivan in the afterlife, unable to understand any language except that of anger, hatred and cruelty. She hovers above the murdered corpse of a victim of drug dealers. She will hover there only long enough before she is drawn on to the next vision of darkness. The story of Amethyst Shards is about how a person is lost and then regained through the gift of God. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I do
