I’m a big fan of CGI. The first time I saw CGI in a movie I knew that this was an incredible new venue for art. Over the years, it’s gotten even better. Except last night. We went to see Captain America. The villain, The Red Skull, was played by Hugo Weaving. An excellent actor, Mr. Weaving went for over-controlled out-of- control in a big way. Then they sustituted his head for the demonic CGI head and he wasn’t scary any more. How is this to be resolved? He needed that red skull head for the big reveal. Why does this happen? I know the CGI guys must have killed themselves over that effect. Hugo Weaving never let up. Why didn’t these two gel this time?
