Most artists plod slowly onward in isolation. I’m not complaining. It just is what it is. Once in a blue moon, someone will “get” you. “Get” what it is that you’ve been trying to express. So it was for me last week. For me, it’s always been that instant that you realize that you’re moving from one world to another. Another artist spotted it in “The Alley to the Baseball Field”. It depicts the dirt alley we took to reach a field where we could play baseball or anything else we wanted. It’s that moment when we left the world of expectations held by parents, teachers and entered a world that was just kids. It dropped from my shoulders like a sweater to be picked up when I heard mny mother’s voice.
My new painting,”The View at the Bend” depicts that moment just before you turn full on into Horseshoe Falls at Niagra. The very dirt and rocks are beautiful to me. It is impossible to describe the Falls themselves in words. I hope you enjoy it.
