Rattlesnake

Punks

It’s rained hard here for days. The ground was already pretty well saturated, so it was no surprise that the snakes got flooded out of their holes. Still, I wasn’t too happy to hear that buzz  that can’t be mistaken for anything else. He was only a little punk, but I skirted him anyway.

There are a lot of opinions about whether a baby rattler’s bite is more lethal than an older rattler’s bite. Like it matters. If you’re bit, you’re bit. Lawn mowers help. Oh come on. Not that way. I mean, they’re loud and they send vibrations into the ground making you the punk on the block. Mothballs help too,but they’re pricey and have to be renewed often. All in all, I’d rather be painting.

The bites of baby rattlers are more lethal, I heard, because the babies don’t let go once they bite and continue to infuse the bitten with poison. Adults bite and let go.
